Batu Caves Hindu Temple - Malaysia

Batu Caves is a 272-step limestone hill with a series of caves and temples in Selangor Malaysia. It has the tallest statue of Lord Murungan, a Hindu diety, standing at 140m tall.

Things to take note when going to Batu Caves:
  • Wear clothes that are below the knee. The guards are very strict on the entrance that you have to rent a sarong or scarf if you want to climb the 272-step hill.
  • There are birds and monkeys scattered along the lobby of Batu Caves. Be careful not to step on them.
  • If you have scarf or available pashmina, make sure to bring them with you especially if you are planning to wear dresses or shorts
  • Entrance is free. If someone comes over to you and asks for money or money trade, ignore them.
  • Expect it to be a little crowded because a lot of people and tourists go there for photos.
  • Remove your shoes when entering the temples. They are also strict with the length of your clothes when entering the temple
  • There is a fee for their toilets (1 MYR) but do not expect too much. It's actually dirty inside.
  • Make sure to bring water! It's too hot in there.

Because we were too tired on the previous day's itinerary from Singapore, we didn't climb up the hill to see the main cave. We just took photos outside the caves.
